ACS has released a lifestyle issues online guide

The American College of Surgeons (ACS) has created an online guide called Surgical Career Lifestyle Issues.

The guide is part of the ACS’ educational resource on Guide to Choosing a Surgical Residency and is designed to help people make the right decisions about their professional and personal goals.

The guide looks at the life of a surgeon, the average amount of hours they can expect to work, family life and the different types of responsibilities a surgeon can expect to take on depending on the type of practice they choose.

It highlights the difference between, for example, a full-time veterans administration job, a university academic practice, a private solo practice, a group practice and large HMOs.

It also encourages medical school graduates to consider the issue of repaying loans and settling financial debts from medical school and points readers to the Association of American Medical Colleges for further advice on the topic.
