Glasgow Surgical Forum to explore advances in cancer surgery

Developments in surgical oncology, from personalised pancreatic cancer treatment to AI and virtual reality, will take centre stage at the Glasgow Surgical Forum on 26–27 November 2026.

Hosted by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, the two-day conference will bring together experts from across the UK and beyond to examine the evidence, techniques and approaches shaping modern cancer care.

Under the theme ‘Advances in Surgical Oncology: Evidence, Practice and Outcomes’, the event will explore how emerging research can inform clinical practice and improve patient outcomes. Delegates can attend in person at the College or join online.

The programme will cover early and advanced rectal cancer, complex rectal polyps, carcinoma of unknown primary and personalised treatment for pancreatic cancer. Sessions will also examine AI and virtual reality in surgical oncology, staging and neoadjuvant treatment in colorectal cancer, and the management of leaking anastomoses.

Alongside clinical developments, discussions will consider decision-making, patient experience and survivorship.

Led by event director Mr John Camilleri-Brennan, the forum is aimed at surgical trainees from ST1 upwards, consultant general and specialist surgeons, medical and clinical oncologists, and the wider surgical oncology team. Topics will also support preparation for higher surgical examinations, including MRCS, FRCS and FEBS (General Surgery).

Delegates can share their work through the forum’s poster competition, with abstract submissions closing on 23 October 2026. Entries should be emailed to donna.johnston@rcpsg.ac.uk with the subject line ‘Glasgow Surgical Forum Conference poster submission’. Entrants should consult the College’s poster competition guidelines before submitting.

The conference offers 12 CPD points, with registration priced at £210 for members and £320 for non-members.
