The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh is set to host the ASiT x RaDiST Robotics for Trainees Conference on May 23rd and 24th, 2024 – an event dedicated to the future of surgical robotics and training.
This innovative conference, led by the Robotic and Digital Surgery Trainee Committee (RaDiST) in collaboration with the Association of Surgeons in Training (ASiT), will bring together some of the brightest minds in the field of surgical robotics.
The event features a packed agenda with keynotes from leading professionals (consultants and industry experts), hands-on training courses, and poster sessions, allowing attendees to explore the latest trends and challenges in surgical robotics.

The first day kicks off with pre-conference courses, including introductions to CMR Versius, Intuitive Da Vinci and Medtronic HUGO robotic systems as well as a course on Orthopaedic Robotics. These courses are free for delegates and limited spaces are available so be sure to sign up early.
There will also be poster and oral prize sessions for which many high-quality abstracts have been shortlisted, and thus, will be presented in competition for the best presentation prizes at the conference.
Day two delves deeper into the future of robotic and digital surgery, with keynote addresses from esteemed robotic experts such as Professor Shafi Ahmed, Professor Andrew Metcalfe, and Miss Leanne Ashrafian. Panel discussions and industry breakout sessions will also offer additional insights into how different specialties can share lessons and overcome common barriers to robotic training.
One of the conference's highlights is its focus on integrated robotic curriculum and the future of surgical training, providing a platform for discussions around innovative approaches to training and technology in surgery. Additionally, attendees can explore virtual reality in surgical education, big data, and the metaverse's impact on digital surgery.
