The Surgeon Show 2026 Announces Landmark Summit for the UK’s Surgical Leaders

Consultant surgeons across the UK are being called to one of the most exclusive events on next year’s clinical calendar, as The Surgeon Show 2026 prepares to open on Friday, 20 February, at the Minster Building in Central London.

Positioned as a summit for those who lead surgery, The Surgeon Show is not a traditional medical conference but an invitation-only gathering of the profession’s most influential voices. Designed for consultants, clinical directors, policymakers, innovators and senior decision-makers, the event brings together those shaping what surgical practice will look like over the next decade.

Organisers say the event’s power lies in the calibre of those in the room. Each attendee is invited specifically for their ability to influence, implement or invest in the future of surgical care. Discussions—from the main stage to intimate breakout sessions - will be guided not by hierarchy, but by the lived expertise and strategic insight of participants themselves.

At the heart of the summit is a forward-looking academic programme delivered across two theatres. Tomorrow’s Theatre Today will examine how artificial intelligence, digital surgery, virtual reality, 3D printing and robotics are already transforming the operating environment. Running alongside it, Tomorrow’s Technology Today will explore the next wave of surgical AI navigation, the evolution of modern surgical leadership, emerging global innovations and the international push to standardise and improve surgical care worldwide.

These themes reflect the rapid acceleration of surgical science and the urgent need for senior clinical leaders to shape how new technologies and techniques are introduced into everyday practice.

Consultant surgeons will join NHS surgical management teams, associate specialists, procurement leaders, private sector providers, strategic advisors, innovators and representatives from regulatory and funding bodies. The aim is to create an unusually open environment—one in which honest debate and cross-sector collaboration can flourish away from the constraints of larger, traditional conferences.

Speaking ahead of the event, Professor Shafi Ahmed, Consultant Colorectal Surgeon, said:

“Surgery is entering one of the most transformative periods in its history. We need spaces where clinicians, innovators and system leaders can speak openly, challenge the status quo and imagine new possibilities together. The Surgeon Show is exactly that kind of space - one where every voice matters, and where the future of our profession is shaped not by hierarchy, but by shared ambition.”
